GETTING AROUND
Now we are working with USEFUL English: GETTING AROUND PLACES, how to give directions. VOCABULARY BANK: bus lane traffic jam pedestrianized area subway/underground (British and American English) zebra crossing highway code full/provisional driving licence fine parking ticket traffic warden speed limit jump the lights road rage confident/dangerous drivers pavement/sidewalk (British and American English) Culture: In London, cars drivers have to pay to drive into the city centre. This Congestion Charge costs &8 a day, about 10 euros. The L-plate is an international sign for learner drivers. It began in the UK in 1935. Once you have a British driving licence, you don't have to renew it until you are 70.
